Foamcore

Lightweight uPVC Drainage Piping System

Astral Foamcore pipes are basically multilayer pipes having outer and inner layers of conventional PVC and a middle layer of foamed PVC. Outer and inner layers are designed to take the load while the middle layer of foamed PVC gives rigidity while maintaining the shape of the pipe under load. It reduces the total weight of the pipe and makes it light when compared to solid wall PVC pipes. The pipe is typical of solid wall PVC under load and the type of distortion is normally expected.

The Astral Foamcore pipe can distribute the load more evenly and does not show the same amount of distortion, as it has a unique “I-Beam” structure. Due to its ability to absorb the load, Astral Foamcore pipes are most suitable for underground drainage systems, where soil exerts pressure on pipe surfaces. In solid wall pipes, this soil pressure will rupture the pipe after some time whereas Astral Foamcore pipes give better life as foamed PVC layer will absorb pressure and make pipes “stress-free” in working conditions.

    FAQs

Astral Foamcore pipes are lighter compared to solid wall PVC pipes due to the reduction in overall weight achieved by incorporating the foamed PVC layer. The unique "I-Beam" structure of the foamed PVC layer allows the pipe to distribute the load more evenly, resulting in reduced distortion when compared to solid wall PVC pipes.

Astral Foamcore pipes excel in underground drainage systems where the soil exerts significant pressure on the pipe surfaces. These pipes can absorb and distribute the load more effectively, providing better performance and longevity compared to solid wall pipes. The foamed PVC layer acts as a stress-absorbing barrier, preventing the pipe from rupturing under soil pressure and ensuring a "stress-free" working condition.

While Astral Foamcore pipes are primarily designed for underground drainage systems, they can also be considered for other applications where load distribution and stress absorption are important factors. It is always recommended to consult with experts or refer to specific guidelines for the appropriate usage of Astral Foam core pipes in different scenarios.

Ringfit pipes have a socket with a groove inside for a rubber ring. The rubber ring ensures a trouble-free and watertight joint, allowing for thermal expansion and contraction. On the other hand, Selfit pipes are socketed on an automatic socketing machine without a groove. These pipes are joined using solvent cement, forming a permanent and watertight joint.

Selfit pipes have one plain end and one self-socketed end. These pipes are joined using solvent cement, which forms a strong and permanent water-tight joint. The plain end of one pipe is inserted into the self-socketed end of another pipe, and solvent cement is applied to create a secure bond between the pipes.

Yes, both Ringfit and Selfit pipes are designed to create watertight joints. Ringfit pipes achieve this through the use of a rubber ring that ensures a tight seal, while Selfit pipes create a permanent water-tight joint through the application of solvent cement. These jointing methods provide reliable and leak-free connections in plumbing systems.
