Power Drain has been brilliantly designed to use capillary forces and syphonic action to drain water from soils far more effectively than simply relying on gravity. Power Drain is a unique flat belt made up of special thermoplast PVC compound with a collection of tubes placed underneath the belt. When laid on the soil, the capillary action in the soil helps to move the water towards the omega-shaped tubes found underneath the belt.

The unique design of Power Drain helps to hold the water within the grooves due to the forces of adhesion, cohesion and surface tension. The collected water is then guided to GeoRex pipe, our subsoil drainage specialist, with the help of a coupler which is designed to insert the Power Drain belt into the GeoRex Pipe.

The GeoRex pipe is installed at a lower level than Power Drain to create a siphonic movement, making it an active drainage system. The perforated surface of the GeoRex pipes in combination with Power Drain creates a double action drainage system. Not only does it help to drain excess water from the soil, but also helps in directing the water toward storage.

    The working principle of the Power Drain belt involves the movement of water into grooves through capillary action and its subsequent transportation to the pipe through siphon action. Capillary action allows water to be drawn into the grooves of the belt due to the cohesive forces between water molecules and the surface tension of the water. Once the water is in the grooves, siphon action takes place, where the difference in water levels between the inlet and outlet pipes creates a suction effect, causing the water to flow through the belt and into the pipe. This mechanism enables efficient water drainage and management in various applications.

    Power Drain is chemically inert, which means it does not react or interact chemically with the substances or fluids they come into contact with. This property ensures that it remain stable and unaffected by corrosive or aggressive materials, providing long-term durability and reliability.

    The flow rate under a 15 cm water head, is 2 liters per minute with a variation of up to 10%. It is important to note that flow rates can be influenced by factors such as diameter, pressure, and any obstructions or restrictions in the system.

    The primary purpose of the PowerDrain Belt is to effectively drain and manage the excess groundwater present in saturated soil. This helps prevent waterlogging, soil erosion, and potential damage to structures or vegetation caused by prolonged exposure to high water levels.

    By removing groundwater from the saturated soil, the PowerDrain Belt contributes to creating a more stable and suitable environment for various applications, such as agriculture, construction, landscaping, and drainage systems.

    The Power Drain belt system is installed in a network grid configuration, where the belts are interconnected with pipes using couplers. The system is laid at a depth ranging from 150 mm to 300 mm beneath the surface. This installation depth ensures proper functionality and effective drainage of groundwater from the surrounding soil.
