Sub-Surface Drainage System

In Western developed countries, the practice of implementing Sub-Surface Drainage (SSD) methods in Farm Drainage Systems has been well-established for enhancing crop growth. This approach gained recognition and acceptance in the mid-20th century, with significant improvements in crop yields observed since the 1990s.

SSD systems involve installing drainage systems beneath the soil surface to address inadequate natural drainage capacity. In India, the adoption of SSD systems has huge scope because of the presence of barren and salt-affected lands.

GeoRex is a specialized Sub-Surface Drainage system designed to tackle the challenges associated with excessive sub-surface water drainage and maintaining optimal water levels in agricultural fields and modern infrastructure. It offers an effective solution for managing water tables, promoting improved agricultural practices, and supporting sustainable development in India.

FAQs

The Sub-Surface Drainage (SSD) system has been in use since the mid-20th century and gained widespread acceptance in the 1990s.

The unique corrugated profile of the pipe provides excellent flexibility while maintaining stiffness. This allows the pipes to withstand heavy earth loads without any adverse effects.

The recommended depth for agriculture application is 1.2 meters. However, in areas not subjected to vehicular loading, a depth of 0.3 meters is sufficient.

The material used for the product is polyester fiber with a minimum thickness of 2.5 mm. The weight of the material is at least 250 gsm.

The water inlet area for the product is within the range of 18-80 square centimeters per meter, as per the specifications of IS 9271:2004.

The Life of GEOREX Pipe & Filter (Geotextile) Is Between 50-100 Years.

uPVC Material Is Used For Perforated Pipe.

For a deflection of 5%, the pressure resistance of the GEOREX pipe is 210 KPa.

Subsurface drainage is a technique where perforated pipes are installed at a predetermined slope and depth beneath the soil surface to facilitate the removal of excess water.

Proper installation of perforated drain pipes requires placing them on a slope to ensure effective drainage.

The increased aeration of the soil due to subsurface drainage systems leads to improvements in soil health.

Subsurface drainage systems are used to remove water from the surface under tiled rooftops, balcony floors, podiums, or decks. These systems provide a permeable base layer that allows excessive rain and stormwater to escape from the substrate, preventing water accumulation and potential damage.
