    FAQs

Power Drain Belt is made from flexible Poly Vinyl Chloride (PVC) material, which offers excellent durability and flexibility. This material is specifically chosen for its ability to withstand various environmental conditions and provide long-lasting performance. The flexible nature of PVC allows the PowerDrain Belt to adapt to different shapes and contours, making it suitable for a wide range of applications in drainage and water management systems.

Effective Water Inlet Opening is >20 % Approx.

The slope ensures proper drainage and facilitates the flow of water towards the designated drainage area. By utilizing a sand bed with a 1% slope, the PowerDrain Belt can effectively transport water and prevent water accumulation or ponding.

The working principle of the Power Drain belt involves the movement of water into grooves through capillary action and its subsequent transportation to the pipe through siphon action. Capillary action allows water to be drawn into the grooves of the belt due to the cohesive forces between water molecules and the surface tension of the water. Once the water is in the grooves, siphon action takes place, where the difference in water levels between the inlet and outlet pipes creates a suction effect, causing the water to flow through the belt and into the pipe. This mechanism enables efficient water drainage and management in various applications.

Power Drain is chemically inert, which means it does not react or interact chemically with the substances or fluids they come into contact with. This property ensures that it remain stable and unaffected by corrosive or aggressive materials, providing long-term durability and reliability.

The flow rate under a 15 cm water head, is 2 liters per minute with a variation of up to 10%. It is important to note that flow rates can be influenced by factors such as diameter, pressure, and any obstructions or restrictions in the system.

The primary purpose of the PowerDrain Belt is to effectively drain and manage the excess groundwater present in saturated soil. This helps prevent waterlogging, soil erosion, and potential damage to structures or vegetation caused by prolonged exposure to high water levels.

By removing groundwater from the saturated soil, the PowerDrain Belt contributes to creating a more stable and suitable environment for various applications, such as agriculture, construction, landscaping, and drainage systems.

The Power Drain belt system is installed in a network grid configuration, where the belts are interconnected with pipes using couplers. The system is laid at a depth ranging from 150 mm to 300 mm beneath the surface. This installation depth ensures proper functionality and effective drainage of groundwater from the surrounding soil.

By establishing a network grid of interconnected belts, the PowerDrain system enables efficient water flow and distribution throughout the designated area. The pipes, connected to the belts through couplers, serve as conduits for transporting the drained water to a desired discharge point or drainage system.

This network grid configuration, combined with the appropriate installation depth, ensures a comprehensive and reliable solution for managing and controlling groundwater levels, promoting effective drainage, and maintaining the stability and functionality of the surrounding area.

How Astral Subsurface Dewatering System Actually Work?

When placed in soil, water moves into grooves by Capillary Action and is carried to the pipe by Siphon Action.

    Capillary Action

This phenomenon enables water to rise through drain pipes due to the interaction of cohesive and adhesive forces between the fluid and the surface of the pipe. The unique design of PowerDrain utilises this action to efficiently draw water into its specialised drainage pipes and fittings to ensure effective moisture control.

    Siphonage Action

By leveraging gravity, water flows from a higher point to a lower level through a strategically designed drain pipe fittings channel. PowerDrain works in conjunction with sewerage pipes to create a seamless flow, prevent water stagnation and ensure a well-regulated drainage system.

    Enhanced Water Removal Efficiency

The combination of capillary and siphonage actions makes PowerDrain significantly more effective in removing three to four times more water compared to conventional drainage pipes and fittings. This superior efficiency ensures that excess water is swiftly drained away, protecting structures and landscapes from water damage.

    Applications of Subsurface Drainage System

    1. Building foundation drainage

Installing drainage pipes and fittings around the foundation helps prevent water accumulation. It also helps to increase the lifespan of the building and maintain the effectiveness of waterproofing systems.

    2. Repairs of existing leaking basements

By integrating an efficient drainage system with specialised drain pipes, PowerDrain ensures that basements remain dry and free from seepage by eliminating long-term structural damage.

    3. Beneath podium gardens and landscape gardens

The advanced drain pipe fittings in PowerDrain facilitate uniform water distribution, which prevents water stagnation and ensures lush, healthy greenery without puddles.

    4. Sports field and golf course drainage

Proper drainage pipes and fittings help maintain optimal playing conditions by quickly removing excess water to reduce downtime due to waterlogged fields.

    5. Retaining walls

They direct the water away through strategically placed drainage pipes. PowerDrain prevents water pressure buildup behind retaining walls and it reduces the risk of leaks and structural damage.

    6. Agriculture

An effective drainage system helps control soil moisture levels, reduces soil salinity and prevents water-logging. Thus, it helps to improve crop health and increase yield.

How to Install Subsurface Drainage System?

Step 1: Insert and secure the belt into the pipe

Carefully insert the PowerDrain belt into the drain pipe and ensure a secure fit. Seal it using a silicone sealant along the smooth side only and at the edges if there are any visible gaps to maintain an effective drainage system.

    Step 2: Position PowerDrain correctly

Place the PowerDrain belt with the grooved side facing downward to maximise water collection and enhance the efficiency of the drainage pipe fittings.

Step 3: Seal the open end

To prevent water leakage and maintain optimal performance, seal the other end of the belt, the portion not inserted into the sewerage pipe, using waterproof duct tape. This ensures a well-contained and efficient drainage system.
