How Astral Subsurface Dewatering System Actually Work?
When placed in soil, water moves into grooves by Capillary Action and is carried to the pipe by Siphon Action.
Capillary Action
This phenomenon enables water to rise through drain pipes due to the interaction of cohesive and adhesive forces between the fluid and the surface of the pipe. The unique design of PowerDrain utilises this action to efficiently draw water into its specialised drainage pipes and fittings to ensure effective moisture control.
Siphonage Action
By leveraging gravity, water flows from a higher point to a lower level through a strategically designed drain pipe fittings channel. PowerDrain works in conjunction with sewerage pipes to create a seamless flow, prevent water stagnation and ensure a well-regulated drainage system.
Enhanced Water Removal Efficiency
The combination of capillary and siphonage actions makes PowerDrain significantly more effective in removing three to four times more water compared to conventional drainage pipes and fittings. This superior efficiency ensures that excess water is swiftly drained away, protecting structures and landscapes from water damage.
Applications of Subsurface Drainage System
1. Building foundation drainage
Installing drainage pipes and fittings around the foundation helps prevent water accumulation. It also helps to increase the lifespan of the building and maintain the effectiveness of waterproofing systems.
2. Repairs of existing leaking basements
By integrating an efficient drainage system with specialised drain pipes, PowerDrain ensures that basements remain dry and free from seepage by eliminating long-term structural damage.
3. Beneath podium gardens and landscape gardens
The advanced drain pipe fittings in PowerDrain facilitate uniform water distribution, which prevents water stagnation and ensures lush, healthy greenery without puddles.
4. Sports field and golf course drainage
Proper drainage pipes and fittings help maintain optimal playing conditions by quickly removing excess water to reduce downtime due to waterlogged fields.
5. Retaining walls
They direct the water away through strategically placed drainage pipes. PowerDrain prevents water pressure buildup behind retaining walls and it reduces the risk of leaks and structural damage.
6. Agriculture
An effective drainage system helps control soil moisture levels, reduces soil salinity and prevents water-logging. Thus, it helps to improve crop health and increase yield.
How to Install Subsurface Drainage System?
Step 1: Insert and secure the belt into the pipe
Carefully insert the PowerDrain belt into the drain pipe and ensure a secure fit. Seal it using a silicone sealant along the smooth side only and at the edges if there are any visible gaps to maintain an effective drainage system.
Step 2: Position PowerDrain correctly
Place the PowerDrain belt with the grooved side facing downward to maximise water collection and enhance the efficiency of the drainage pipe fittings.
Step 3: Seal the open end
To prevent water leakage and maintain optimal performance, seal the other end of the belt, the portion not inserted into the sewerage pipe, using waterproof duct tape. This ensures a well-contained and efficient drainage system.
